Water-based surface retarder (solvent-free) for an exposed-aggregate finish on the upper surface of concrete.
Sprayed onto fresh concrete, it deactivates the cement by preventing its setting, allowing it to be subsequently removed with high-pressure water, leaving the aggregate exposed. It is widely used on continuous concrete pavements requiring this type of finish.
It is also used on walls or artificial stone elements that have been deactivated on the mould base with Pieri D.R.C. and where deactivation on the upper face is also required. The result is a concrete element with exposed aggregate on both faces of the prefabricated element.
Attack levels:
- Pieri® VBA Lav 100 Lilac – Micro deactivation

- Pieri® VBA Lav 02 Green – Between 1 – 5 mm
- Pieri® VBA Lav 03 Blue – Between 3 – 8 mm
- Pieri® VBA Lav 04 Orange – Between 5 – 12 mm
- Pieri® VBA Lav 05 Salmon – Between 8 – 14 mm
- Pieri® VBA Lav 06 Yellow – Between 12 – 18 mm
- Pieri® VBA Lav 07 Violet – Between 14 – 15 mm
- Pieri® VBA Lav 08 Red – >18 mm
Applications:
Outdoor pavements and sidewalks
Decorative precast elements with exposed aggregate
Urban furniture
Function:
Its function is to retard the setting of the cement in the most superficial layer of the concrete. After hardening, when washing with high-pressure water, the un-set surface layer is easily removed, leaving the aggregates exposed. This process makes it possible to obtain decorative and slip-resistant finishes, while also enhancing the natural texture and colour of the aggregates.
Coverage:
Between 4 and 5 m²/l.
Packaging:
Supplied in 18 l containers.
